This will be a full-time permanent role that is part of the Atlantic Fleet Operations Group and involves close collaboration with Operations Managers across Ocean Choice’s offshore fishing vessels. Responsibilities include: Working with the vessel Operation Managers, provide oversight and approval of maintenance work during port days between fishing trips. Prepare and develop capital budgets for annual maintenance and scheduled refits for vessels with the Senior Engineer/Manager of Capital Projects. Coordinate electrical and refrigeration support staff who report to the Senior Engineer/Manager of Capital Projects for each vessel. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics. Liaison with regulatory authorities as required. Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies to minimize downtime during turnarounds; and work with the operations group to further implement and improve the preventative maintenance program. Work with the operations group to develop effective landing plans, including the coordination and supervision of contractors working on the vessels. Oversight and familiarity with spares in the company’s storage facilities to ensure inventory levels are appropriately maintained; and assist the Purchasing Department with technical information regarding orders. Assist with the ongoing development of the International Safety Management code as it pertains to the technical aspects of the code. Ability to prioritize, estimate and manage work schedules for contractors, engineering and maintenance staff. Promote a safe, courteous atmosphere and strive to make improvements in a professional manner. Effective team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; and willingness to step in and do hands-on work when required. Ability to travel, as work may be assigned outside the Atlantic Fleet Operations. Qualifications: Recognized Certified of Training in the marine or mechanical field. Extensive knowledge of Factory Freezer Trawler (FFT) operations, including: Ammonia refrigeration systems Factory automation, equipment and processes Propulsion plant, electrical and fishing equipment systems (e.g., winches, etc.) Safety equipment, and hotel systems. Experience with preventative maintenance software, in particular MxSuite. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and other computer applications. Strong understanding of regulatory inspections from TCMS and Class Society. Knowledge of safe working regulations in a marine environment. Ability to effectively manage sub-contractors.
